Crossing some avenues…
It’s barely 3 months since some friends started to encourage me to move my blog to WordPress. Oh guys, you know who you are! I won’t mention your names anymore, over exposed na kayo! LOL! Well, those friends were right about my transfer. They felt I could reach more readers if I move out of Friendster. But know what, I purposely created my blog in that networking site basically for my friends to know the simple on-goings of my daily hurdles. Well, that big move from one platform to another did better things than expanding my very small readership. It helped me gain new friends as well. We may not have seen each other in person but this odd way of connecting to people in this so called blogging world is quite an experience for me. So, move over Friendster! LOL!
Just recently, as I was doing my blog hopping routine, I came across Mon’s entry. And I was quite surprised to see my name it that entry. As he was blogging out is gratitude to friends (old and new alike) for warmly accepting him in the blogosphere, he particularly mentioned some names. And guess what? I’m one of them. This is what he posted:
Winkie: Have I told you, I love your style of writing? Parang casual lang peru effective. Like, it shows your bubbly spirit and the effect to me is refreshing. Thank you talaga.
Check out Mon’s entire post here.
Oh di ba naman, very flattering! I didn’t know there are people who would really feel refreshed upon reading my posts. My entries are just bit too shallow. I don’t try my hand on too complicated and serious topics as I don’t have much anything to say about them. I’m just not as opinionated as other people ah! Laitera lang ako, but not opinionated on highly controversial topics. LOL!
Apparently, this is my second time to be mentioned in an entry. I failed to make an entry on the first one. But hey, I was equally flattered as well. Who else would that be but Flamindevil Rye. At eto naman ang statement nya:
Given the chance, I would like to learn from brotherutoy, geisha, mangbadoy, gandanghari, khzr4u, jorge, winkie and chaospilot (see ‘Kasiyahan kay Jollibee) how to inject humor in my post because their entries made me smile at one point.
Oh well, I’m really lost for word now. All I can say is thanks for those wonderful comments. You guys, really make me want to blog more 🙂
Online Booking
I was drafting a new entry last night, but my attention was somehow got divided so I wasn’t able to finish it. (My apologies, Mon! Hehehe!)
Apparently, I was simultaneously online on Cebu Pacific’s site. Yep, you’re guessing right. My cute little traveller’s feet will be off to wander to some new places once again. But not soon, huh? I’m travelling sometime October. Yeah, I got early bookings as I wanted to avail of Cebu Pacific’s low air fare promo. And last night was my last chance to grab that big discount.
So, why October? Well, just like last year, that’ll be my birthday gift for my mom. She’ll spend her 74th birthday somewhere in Asia. LOL!
Getting that overly cheap slash discounted airfare was somewhat of a hassle for me… or was it my dear travel agent friend? LOL! I needed some extra hand to get the schedule I wanted.
Booking my outgoing flight went out smoothly as expected. But since I needed to book incoming flight arrangements from a different segment (read: another country), it required me make separate online transaction. And when I did, I got an error message. I tried again and the same popped on my screen. Then, I cried for help. Good thing, my travel agent friend was in “tago” mode last night.
My conversation with my travel agent (TA) friend went something like this:
Winkie: Tago mode ka, I know!
TA Friend: Yes mam, hehehe!
Winkie: Nagbobook ako… error daw! Ayaw tanggapin return flight ko!
TA Friend: Last day kasi ng promo. Try mo lang uli.
Winkie: Ok.
TA Friend: Di ko pwede i-book yan eh. Book-and-pay kasi.
Winkie: Ok, thanks!
TA Friend: Hala, 2 hours to go ka na lang.
Winkie: Wag ka magulo! Panic mode na nga ako eh!
TA Friend: Book na kita dito, pero kelangan tawagan 5J to confirm otherwise void.
Winkie: Wala akong landline.
TA Friend: Ok, I’ll call.
Winkie: Naku matagal yan.
TA Friend: Oo nga, storbo ka! Hehehe!
Winkie: Sorry na, please.
TA Friend: Joke lang.
TA Friend: Dial na ko. All circuits are busy now.
Winkie: Kaasar
TA Friend: Ayan, welcome to Cebu Pacific na!
Winkie: Yey!
Winkie: Good luck naman. Kakantahan ka nyan!
TA Friend: Eto na, fly fly with Cebu Pacific. Haaay!
Winkie: Sorry na nga. Hehehe!
To cap it all up, my friend was able to secure my return flight after one and a half freaking hours. Yep, she spent 90 minutes waiting for a Cebu Pacific Reservation Officer to attend to her call. But hey, we were able to get a P4,750-airfare (per person) for a CRK-BKK-SGN-MNL arrangement. That’s affordable travelling at its best! LOL!
And now I owe my TA friend a cup of Starbucks. LOL!
P.S. This is not a Cebu Pacific-paid post. But if they decide to grant me moolah for this one, my now-empty wallet is more that willing to accept it. LOL!
Echos-ever… REVEALED!
It’s Friday today.
As promised, I will reveal the answer to that Ten Commandments meme I posted two entries ago. But before that big revelation, echos-ever muna ako ng pasasalamat sa lahat ng nakibasa at nanghula. Honestly, I really had a hard time doing that entry because my life has been an open book to most of my friends so I really feel there’s nothing more new to share. Revsiopao Jhoen can attest to that.
And oh, speaking of Revsiopao, I will squeal something about him. I was online last night on YM and he buzzed me while he was sitting invisible (madalas online yan pero naka-invi mode lang! hehehe!). He asked for lickage leakage. Shhhhh…. secret ‘to ha! Don’t tell Rev!
Oh game, balik revelation na. Pwede mo na lakasan ang pagbasa! LOLz!
I had fun reading all the comments slash guesses on that Ten Commandments entry. I was really expecting to get violent reaction from some “close” friends on item no. 1.
I was suprised for some who really made extra effort to analyze each and every item I revealed. And that mathematical analysis on my Havaianas are way too amusing.
And so, to all who guessed that echos slash kathang-isip slash hoax slash half-truth is item number 3… MAY TAMA KA!!!
The following people were right on their comments:
-
Grace: “own many pero not 34 pairs”
-
Flamindevil: “grabe naman yung 34 ng havaianas”
-
Tino: “i assume you only have+/- 26 in your havaianas dove cage”
-
-
Mon: “34? i think that is just too much.”
-
Revsiopao: “As of March 2008, e 14 pa lang ang havais niya, so kahit bumili siya ng isang pares kada buwan after that, around 25 pa lang dapat ‘yun as of Feb. ‘09.”
So, bakit nga uli sya half-truth? Narito ang mga katibayan:

My Havais Top Edition

My Havais Slim Edition

My Havais High Edition
When I was writing that meme, I thought I only have 17 pairs so I said that I own 34… literally half! Baduy! Hehehe! My mental-count prowess failed to include Havais no. 2. Di ko kasi binili yan. It was given to me by my friend Ghie last Christmas.
So there you have it. Now you know, hindi 34 pairs ang Havais ko kundi 18 lang! Whehehe!
Flamindevil’s Peek of the Week
I was having quite a busy day at work today so I went out for a while to buy some snacks. And when I returned back to my station, I saw that I have a new message in my yahoo mail. So, I instantly opened it. And this is what I saw:

Yeah, yeah, I know! It’s way too small to see the contents. It was apparently a comment notice from wordpress. Blogger friend Flamindevil has just dropped this sweet comment slash message on my latest post:
ms. winkie, may surprise ako sayo. sapilitan kitang padadalawin sa site ko. now na, ms. winkie.
i just want to share to the other bloggers how a wonderful writer you are.
ikaw ang first nyan ha. salamat 😛
To see his actual message, click ka muna sa last entry o dili kaya dito. Dun banda sa baba ah! 😛
Upon reading that email message, I immediately accessed Flamindevil‘s site. At ito ang tumambad sa akin:

It was indeed surprising to see my pic on Rye’s site. Not to mention, it was an opening salvo of his new side bar gimmck. I initially thought, “Hey, this young lad is really very creative for having thought of this kind of thing. Featuring blogger friends on his site? Kinda cool, huh?!” Pero syempre, Tagalog version nung nag-isip ako. Edited subtitle na yan, whehehe!
But seriously, I really felt so previleged for having been featured like that. I know for a fact that Rye’s blogsite is overflowing with regular readers and random visitors. So, with my pic and url posted that way, my site may possibly generate more hits. That would be nice, I know. But what I find really nice about this is that someone thinks of me as a “wonderful writer”. That comment really put a smile on my face for quite a while. It was very flattering indeed. But honestly, I have never thought of myself that way. I regularly do my blog hopping routine to check on how other bloggers do theirs and I feel my way of writing is overly plain-and-simple as compared to the so-called “royalties” and “elitistas” in the blogosphere.
But hey, I did not create my site for popularity. I don’t want to compare mine to others. I’m simply having fun writing down random things that happen to me. And I hope you are equally having fun reading them as well.
And to Flamindevil Rye, thanks so much! Sobrang na-touched talaga ako! Sagot ko Coffee Bean mo ‘pag uwi mo dito! Hehehe!
Ten Commandments
I was checking my dashboard a while ago and saw that Grace a.k.a. tinkiiwinkii did an entry of the same title. It was posted February 8. Apparently it was a tag entry and I got tagged. So, I’m writing this now to fulfill that meme thingy 🙂
Based on Gracie’s tag, I need to post 10 items here: 9 are true and 1 is simply echos slash kathang-isip lang!
Hmmm, let’s now start the ball rolling and take a guess which one is echos-ever…
10. I am a frustrated beauty queen. When I was still a student, I joined lots and lots of beauty contests but never won in one of them. I can still remember Mommy taking me to RPN 9 to audition for Little Ms. Philippines. I got elimitated immediately… wala kasi akong matinong talent, err, walang ka-talent-talent pala! Hehehe! And when I was in highschool naman, I joined in the Ms. SSHS contest in first year and Bb. Kamfil in 4th year. Of course, I lost in both competitions. But hey, I was 2nd runner up as Ms. Kamfil. So bale, 3rd place ako… pero talo pa rin because I wasn’t able to bag the title. During college days naman, I was lured by my friends to take part in the Mutya na Pilipinas Pamantasan Beauty Pageant. Again, I lost! What else would you expect??? LOL! And the last contest I joined was Face of the Year and got chosen as 1st runner up. Bottomline, di pa rin ako ang winner! Hmp!

9. I know Sign Language. Some years ago, I volunteered to AMO-PDM (Archdiocese of Manila Office – Persons with Disability Ministry) and took sign language courses. I was able to learn the basic signs that enabled me to talk to deaf people. It was kinda hard to study their language. It’s like starting to learn how to speak all over again. But it was a fun experience. Later on, I gave up on being a volunteer because of my schedule. Tsaka tumaas na ang fees for the succeeding courses kaya out na ang beauty ko sa sign language at volunteerism na yan! Kuripot talaga!!! LOL!

8. I finished college at the age of 18. I started school at 5 years old. Mommy intially intended to enroll me as saling-pusa in Kindergarten but my teacher decided to take me in as a regular student. And since bata pa lang eh hobby ko na ang magpakitang gilas, I was able to complete Kindergarten at 5… with flying colors! And then, when I was in Grade 3, I passed the acceleration exam. So I just took Grade 4, then directly jumped to Grade 6. Hehehe! I finished elementary at 10, high school at 14 and of course, college at 18. I-compute mo pa kung gusto mo! Hehehe!

nabbed from mytrueart.com
7. I was a Banker at 19. Syempre segue ito ng number 8. If I graduated at 18, I should be working at 19. Gusto mo uli magcompute??? Hehehe! My colleagues then did not befriend me as they all thought I was just an OJT at the bank. Nung napansin nila na mejo tumatagal na ang pamamalagi ko sa opisina, they asked me and confirmed that I was a regular employee. Mukha daw kasi akong pinabili lang ng suka that time… ngayon, mukhang nagtitinda na ng suka! Whehehe!

6. I know how to play banduria and harmonica. I so love music but music doesn’t seem to love me. But what the heck! I still pushed myself to learning how to play musical instruments. When I was in elementary, I was part of the school’s musical ensemble as a banduria player. Later on, I learned how to play harmonica in our music class. Then, I got chosen to compete and represent my school in an inter-district musical competition.

5. I joined as a studio contestant in ‘Sang Linggo nAPO Sila. This embarassing moment was courtesy of my late Mama Lola, Tatay’s dearest into-the-showbiz-thing mom. Mama Lola dragged me and my Mom to ABS-CBN as Mommy got picked to play as a studio contestant in a segment sponsored by Rejoice (yes, the shampoo!). The program coordinators felt that Mommy was a bit too old for the contest, they opted to have me as the contestant. So, I stood there and joined with the name FLOR (Mommy’s name) plastered on my chest. Kalokah, first-ever TV appearance ko yun! I wasn’t too ready, my gulay!!! Had they informed me ahead of time, I exerted more effort to appear bonggaciously pretty on TV! LOL! But that embarassing experience made me P600 richer. Oi, malaki na P600 nuon noh?! Hehehe!

4. I so love cartoons… and Disney Channel. Up to this time, I enjoy watching cartoons and I have Cars, Monsters, Inc., Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo and Little Mermaid in my iTouch… all my fave cartoons! LOL! Also, I can spend the entire day being a couch potato with Disney Channel in my boobtube. Ah yes, pati Hannah Montana, Zack and Cody, and That’s So Raven eh pinapatulan ko. But my fave now is Wizards of Weaverly Place. I find Selena Gomez very pretty and funny! 😛

3. I own 34 pairs of Havaianas. I’m a sucker of footwears and shoe slash sandals shopping is one of my worst vices ever. I started buying Havaianas in 2007 simply because I was to be in the flipflop fad thing. Since then, I bought a pair of Havais almost every month. Beat that! LOL!

2. I’m an internet addict. I spend a lot of time in front of the computer. When I go back home from work, the first thing I would do is open my lappy and connect on the net to check mails, peek in YM, visit my blog, reply to comments, watch movies and surf the net. I most of the time sometimes lose track of time especially when I am online with _ _ _ _ _ _. Oh hah, may fill in the blanks gimmick pa, noh?!

1. Maganda at sexy ako! Gaya-gaya ako ke Gracie… pero may dagdag na sexy, hehehe! Ang kumontra, PANGET!!!

At eto ng cell wallpaper ko! Laban ka? Hehehe!
So, sa palagay nyo, alin dyan ang echos??? Here’s a clue: one item is half-true.
The right answer will be revealed on Friday, February 20, 2009. And take note, it will also be photo supported, hehehe!
I hope this tag thing continues with snglguy, flamindevil and chuvaness.
My Valentine’s Day
As always, I get to spend the day with my Mom. Kelan kaya with a male specie who is into me? *asa mode*. I wanted to make it a bit special for her so I got her wish granted today. That is, to eat seafood. So I deciced to take her to the Mall of Asia and had lunch by the seaside.
We had buttered shrimp, calamares (my fave!) and sinigang sa miso. It may sound few but it was a bit too much for the two of us. See how busog happy my Mom was:

At walang patumangging nag-smile sa camera! Photo adik talaga!!! Hehehe!
On our way back to MOA, she said she wanted a purple blouse. We had to look from one boutique to another for that one specific blouse. My mom is a bit too particular on her type of blouse. (Now you know where I got my being a meticulous shopper, LOL!) No complicated pre-requisites though. It just has to be a simple V-neck shirt with not-too-short sleeves. And we saw one at Hang Ten. Since it was on sale – 2 for P500 – I offered her to get another one. LOL! After that, we transferred to the nearby boutique and saw that they were on sale too. So we went in and a nice colored shirt caught my attention. I noticed in her face how much she liked the blouse so I again offered to buy the thing. I was surprised to hear her refuse. I instantly gave her an Oh-Mommy-is-that-really-you look. LOL! I really liked the shirt for her so it was me who insisted. And she said, “Ayan ha, ayoko na ipabili yan pero pinilit mo sa akin.” So, I’m the one to blame here? *utterly confused state*
I wanted to give her some pampering and share some foot spa moments together. But all salons were fully booked so we opted to just stroll around more and have snacks at Coffee Bean. (Paging Flamindevil: I ate Pistachio Sansrival… ang sarap!!!).
The Coffee Bean session concluded our V Day at the MOA.
And as soon as we got home, I saw a neighbor who formerly worked for a salon. And guess what? She was kind enough to give us a home-service foot spa. Mommy did get her foot pampering treatment after all. 🙂
That was my V Day with my Mom. Nothing spectacular. Just plain and simple stroll at the mall. I just hope she found it rather nice and special.
**********************************************
I may not have received any flower or date invitation, but my V day was indeed special too. Oh well, a call woke me up at 6:43 a.m. and hearing words like “Happy V Day, Baby!” just made my day. So I replied back, “Happy V Day to you too, Baby!” I just hope I made his day as well. — Maconfuse kayo ngayon! Hahaha!

HAPPY HEART’S DAY TO ALL!!!
Got promoted to Bank CEO and COO
Oh no, NOT ME!!! 😛
A few days back, I heard a female kid’s voice said, “Lola Flor, hulog po!”. Then after a short while, one of my nephews came in and said, “Mommy, hulog ko po.” I got a bit puzzled on those hulog things. Did Mommy lend money to those kids?
Well, just a backgrounder first. My Mom has really been very active in a lot of community organization activities in the past. She even volunteered once for an NGO that in specialized streetchildren management and poverty alleviation. She managed to secure livelihood and educational assistance for the less fortunate families in our dear community.
For years now, Mom has been out of this community organization thing and has been solely busy with her business endeavor. Her non-profitable sari-sari store, that is! LOL! And so, just very recently, my dear Mom again made efforts to doing something for the kids around us. I found out that she encouraged them to save up some money. I think she wanted the little ones develop the habit of setting money aside not only for the rainy days but for more important things as well. Hmmm… I wonder why my Mom did not walk me through that kinda thing when I was young. LOL!
I was really impressed with Mommy’s determination to impart this saving-up notion to those kids. I even got more impressed how she keeps and records their funds. See how resourceful and creative my Mom is:

My empty Lays canister got transformed as fund keeper while my obsolete floppy disk thingy served as passbook case.
O di ba naman, they were able to recycle my empty Lay’s canister and use as their money vault alkansya. And did you notice those colored booklets? Those are the kids’ self-made passbooks. Passbook kung passbook! Feeling bangko talaga ang mga ito!!! Hehehe!

The depositor and Bank CEO in action, whehehe!
Oh well, Mommy indeed got promoted from sari-sari store owner supermarket proprietress to Bank CEO and COO. Whehehe!
Keep it up Mommy dear! 😛
One Starbucks Venti for…

Hmp... madalas talaga Jinkee! Kaasar!

Pinky naman??? Ano... Webb o de Leon? Hehehe!

Sabi nang W-I-N-K-I-E eh! Palagi na lang ganito spelling!

Asus!

Oh well, next time when the barista asks for my name. I’ll say EVER. Tapos wait ako ng pagsigaw nila nang… ONE MOCHA FRAP VENTI FOREVER! :-p

(Sorry, no nice entry to post! Whehehe!)
Naisip ko na naman…
… na gumawa ng entry na walang katuturan. Teka, may katuturan ba yun iba? Eto na naman ako at overly assuming. Whehehe!
Hehehe! At di pa dyan nagtatapos ang trip ko ha! Naisip ko rin na palitan ang aking blog title mula sa “A Journey Inside Wingkai’s Mind” at gawaing itech na “A Quick Peek into Winkie’s World”. Oh di ba naman, parang mas okay itong bagong blog titulo dahil wala din naman akong pinopost na mga seryosong issue so no wiz nga bagay ang journey-journey-inside-my-mind chuva na yan! Hehehe!

Hehehe!

Bet ko din talaga ito. Wag na kayong magulat if one day eto na ang title pic ko ah!

Cute!

Hehehe!
And last, but definitely not the least…

Aaaay!!! Parang mahalay ang meaning ng "peek" dito! Hehehe!
My gudness, hirap kaya ng straight English entry.
O sya, babush muna for now! Promise I’ll try my best na mag-isip ng matino sa susunod 😛

Post update, Feb. 11, 2009:
Tatlong oras ko ata kinarir yan kasi ang hirap pumili from my tons and tons of pics 😛
Kaya go to the trash bin na itong isang ito:

Salamat sa panandaliang paglagi sa aking blog 😛
TSoM
I was cleaning up my office inbox this morning when I chanced upon this email sent by a friend some months back. It has photos of some very familiar faces from a very famous movie we all (or I guess, most of us) loved. It’s no other than The Sound of Music (TSoM).
I still remember the day when I first saw the film at the house of Tatay’s best bud. I was just 8 years old then. And I instantly enjoyed and liked the film. Whehehe!). And up to this time, TSoM is one of my fave films. I’ve got all kinds of audio and video copies. Cassette tape (yep, I’m still in possession of those things), VHS tape (kahit wala na akong player), VCD (oops, nag-iimprove na!), DVD (oh ha, updated na ng konti) and MP3s of all songs loaded in my iPod (haven’t stolen video from the net yet, hehehe!). So, suma tutal, di ko sya talaga masyadong favorite, di ba?! LOL!
Again, Im not writing about the film. I really don’t have talent for movie review. I just wanted to share those interesting photos in my friend’s email. I bet this one is a very familiar scene.

Maria's first encounter with the Von Trapp kids
And so, for a clearer view, here’s the Von Trapp kids’ frontal shot:

(1) Charmain Carr as Leisl (2) Nicholas Hammond as Friedrich (3) Heather Menzies as Louisa (4) Duane Chase as Kurt (5) Debbie Turner as Marta (6) Angela Cartwright as Brigitta (7) Kym Karath as Little Gretl
They all looked real cute back then. And this is how they look now (more or less, I suppose, as their reunion was held some years back):

Oh, where's the debonaire Capt. Von Trapp?

... they will forever be tagged as the Von Trapp kids!
I bet this reunion was truly one heck of a moment to remember for the entire TSoM cast.
Up to this day, I couldn’t believe that Charmain Carr (Liesl) was almost 22 years old when she did the film. Her portrayal of a 16-year old daughter was way too convincing for me. Hmmm… I bet you are now trying to recall that famous “Sixteen Going On Seventeen” scene. LOL!
Fret no more, just click here to see that sweet clip of Liesl and Ralph singing “16 Going on 17”.
